Tips for Well-Cared and Softer Hands

We come into contact with many different surfaces during the day, so we wash our hands frequently to maintain hygiene and even use alternative cleaning methods such as wet wipes. In this way, our hands, which come into contact with water, soap and various cleaners during the day, inevitably dry and even crack even though we ensure the cleanliness of our hands and protect our health.

Fortunately, there are many things we can do to strengthen our eroding skin barrier and keep our hands soft!

1. Use a skin-friendly soap

The first step you need to take to make your hands look well-cared and soft is to prevent your skin from wearing out! Soaps containing heavy chemicals, abrasive substances and compounds causing dry skin erode the skin barrier even in a single wash, causing the skin to lose moisture easily. Skin that loses moisture cracks and has a dry and unhealthy appearance. What you need to do to prevent this is to use a skin-friendly soap.

2. Protect your hands from cold and heat Contact with extreme cold and extreme heat damages and dries your skin.

Therefore, you should not neglect to protect your hands from the cold with gloves and similar accessories on cold winter days. If you wash your hands with hot water to ensure hygiene or avoid getting cold, you should take care that the temperature of the water is not too high, and you should not hold things such as hot trays, plates, pots without gloves or protective material while cooking.

3. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals

Surface cleaners, dishwashing detergents, laundry soaps and similar cleaning agents contain harsh chemicals that damage the skin barrier in direct contact. Your skin dries much more easily and loses its softness when your skin barrier is damaged.  Therefore, you should take care to avoid contact with such agents.

You can protect your skin from the negative effects of cleaning agents by using gloves specially designed for this work when cleaning or washing dishes.

4. Don't skip the care your hands need

We described that the first step in having well-cared and soft hands is to protect the skin from abrasive effects. Naturally, the second step is to care! Moisture is the most important thing that gives the skin softness and provides a healthy and youthful appearance. For this reason, the way to have well-cared and soft hands is to maintain the moisture balance of the skin. You should use a hand cream that provides moisture to your hands naturally at least once a day in order to moisturise your skin and provide the daily care it needs.
